We All Need Ice Cream
The following story illustrates just how something as simple as ice cream can help people.
Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, “God is good, God is great.
Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!”
Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman remark, “That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!”
Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, “Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?”
As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table.
He winked at my son and said, “I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer. “Really?” my son asked. “Cross my heart,” the man replied.
Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), “Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream can is good for the soul sometimes.”
Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life.
He picked up his sundae and without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, “Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.”
Sometimes we all need is some ice cream.

lol…cute story…I have to laugh, because every day I go to McDonalds…and HAVE to have my dollar ice cream cone.
They always have it ready for me as soon as i walk in…and usually make it real big for me!
Just a little reminder of the simple things of life…I told this story once, about how I was really broke, (*what else is new ?? LOL)
I was walking down to the resturant, but had no money.
I kept on praying to God, Please, I only need two dollars, to get some coffee and a couple of apple pies Father..:
This is the truth also…
as I was about half a block from Mickey -D’s…I happened to look down, and on the ground, I saw what looked like a dollar
I was so happy, and thanked the Lord cuz I knew I could at least get some coffee..
When I picked it up…it was a two dollar bill…
I knew that God had put it there for me…
I had to laugh at myself though, I remember thinking, “I should have asked for twenty…LOL..
but believe me, that was a micro miracle!

I believe in my heart that God loves our prayers. No matter what we pray if it is sincere and from the heart, He truly cares. This is a wonderful message to everyone out there. He has put with in each of us a way to survive and care for one another. Thank you for this post. It helped me today in more ways than anyone can imagine.

To think that the most simple thing as ice cream can touch many lives. Maybe I will start giving it to many I know. The sincere heart of a child can touch a hard heart.
