Creative Fundraising Ideas

How To Raise Funds & Have Fun: Creative fundraising ideas for creative minds

The idea of fundraising can seem a bit daunting. Where do you find the time? The energy? The support? But fundraising can be a heck of a lot easier than it seems if you get creative with your fundraising ideas

Whether it’s to benefit charity, or even support someone battling through a tough time – creative fundraising ideas lurk in every neighborhood nook and cranny. We’ve done a bit of legwork for you and gathered some creative fundraising ideas. We’d love to hear some of yours at the end…

The $10 Fundraiser

Ten dollars can quickly multiply to an easy $1,000 with this creative fundraising idea: Pick ten people (ie. friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, church members, etc) and ask them to find ten other people to donate $10. Cha-ching, easy as pie.

BBQ Fundraisers

Who doesnt like a good old BBQ? They’re a fun, family-friendly way to fundraise and a great way to draw community around the causes you care most about.

Yard Sale Fundraisers

Yet another great way to fundraise. Clean out your garage and ask your neighbors to donate items to support your cause. Be sure to publisize your yard sale as a fundraiser for charity. Set a fundraising goal to encourage people, maybe they’ll give you more for your junk! =)

The Popcorn Fundraiser

A deliciously creative way to fundraise which calls for a movie night in your very own living room. Scatter pillows on the floor, pop some corn and pop the lights. Live in a cupboard? Not enough room in the house? Nominate your neighbor’s house!

Birthday Bash Fundraiser

Using your Birthday as an excuse is a great way to fundraise. Host a birthday bash in honor of a cause you care about.

Bingo & Bowling Fundraisers

Games are always a creative way to fundraise. Everybody loves them, they’re age appropriate for most children, and everybody wins in the game of Charity!

Wing Fling or Chili Contest Fundraiser

Some of the best creative fundraising ideas involve food. Gather your community around food contests and encourage your community to join in and sample delicious food for the sake of charity.  Who would turn that down??

Creative fundraisers can be a highly effective way to raise money for causes you care about. We learned a story about a few young people who threw a party and raised over $40,000. What started out as a modest appeal to raise donations for a charitable cause evolved and materialized into what is now an annual event; a fine example of the power of creative fundraising and the impact a few people can make when gathered in the name of a cause they care most about. Start small and you never know where your creative fundraising ideas will lead…

  1. I think raffels are a great idea too. We took a huge teddy bear and put a Saints tee shirt on him and charged $1.00 per ticket. We raised lots of money for a little girl with lukemia. The Saints football team was doing really well that year and we couldn’t keep up the tickets were going like crazy.

Another thing we did to raise money for a kid was we had a pie throwing contest. The people bought the pies for two dollars each and got to throw them at the person of thier choice. We had the police cheif, the fire cheif, the mayor and a few others it was so much fun and we made a ton fo money.

  2. Oh by the way the pies were just the tin foil pans with spray whipped cream in them. cheap and easy, we were actually making them as we went. Just for fun we has some sprinkles so the kids could make bulls eyes on them and smiley faces they had a blast.

  3. Ideas For Funraising.

I think organizing a bus ride to any play land park. A picnic bus ride to a State
Park or beach neighbor hood pool.
School field trip to a baseball game, Football Basket ball or any sport events.
Create some hand made special card or silicone wristbands. And sell them in
places like your neighbor hood and churches and places you visit frequently.

Create some special made piggy banks and drop them off all over your community business places

  4. I found animals to be a very effective method of fund raising. Everyone loves puppies and kittens; so why not pick up a homeless kitty/pup-bathe it/feed it(get a veterinarian to check it out)-put it up for adoption. You can use the flea market circuit, newspapers, or the veterinarian’s office to advertise. be sure to tell people it is for a charitable cause…you’ll meet your goals in no time! This is also a great way to save lives.

  5. In todays econonmy, you are going to have to be creative. BBQ’s dinners work for me because people have to eat. At the same time, I’ll do a fifty- fifty raffle. for people, who don’t know what that is, one half of the raffle goes to the person holding the matching ticket that is pulled. It’s legal gambling, as long as the other half goes for charity.
For a school, raising pennies for a cause is a great idea. The teacher or coach, or who ever, get the most pennies raised has to kiss a pig. It’s a lot of fun. Maybe a auction, one being a pie for someones face. Then, raffle tickets on who’s going to throw the pie. This can be a lot of fun.
It was really interesting reading on Groups ” Party for a cause” to help charities. I thought the idea for Lisa Hague to have merged with Yale University and called themselves ” weddding planner” was a smart idea. I really liked “Party4ACause” for a marketing slogan.
Were going to work harder because problems for economic crises for philanthropy. I guess we better make friends with the Hooter Girls or Wing House Girls because they seemed to always attract the guys.Men spend really good money for an attractive women. Maybe if were lucky, I.R.S. will have a tax credit for donations. Let cross our fingers.

  6. What about a sock hop for kids that should be a great way to raise funds. My little sister (shes 10) went to one and had the best time. It cost 6.00 to get in and then sacks and drinks. I think that would be an awesome way to raise some money.

  7. ohhh I just saw this on another site. What about a rent party? You have a party and charge the people and take donations to raise money for a house not or rent. This was really popular in the 70′s and it seems to be growing big again. Can’t hurt to try it.

  8. Here is some other funraising idea, You can also organized a community car wash
for a every week end for that particular month. Celibtity autographs fundraising, Dog walk in the park day funraising, Can and bottles collection funraising, Donation containers and do a door to door neighbor hood walk for pennies fundraising.

Also favorite pet photos day funraising

  9. I like the ideas that microgiving presented. I would probably do the $10 fundraiser, as i know alot of people in the area, and i can show them positives, as well as talking to business managers, and supervisors. That’s what im going to try to this next week as well as trying to sell cutlery for my job.

  10. Jamel,
A car wash is a great idea. Thay do quite well. Just make sure you gets lots of help. You don’t need to over do it. I, too, learned a lot of ideas from microgiving’s blog.
During Halloween, setting up a carvinal can make great money. If you know the right person, you can get a dunk tank donated. That really can make some money. By adding a few games, like fish to catch candy, or ring toss, throw the bean bags in the pumkin. What you do is sell tickets to play games. Then give tickets for games played. Let the children go to a prize booth to spend their winning tickets. Ask Walmart and the Dollar Store, to donate little prizes. It’s a lot of work, but the rewards are great. I mean, the money and the fun with the kids. Oh, you could sell hotdogs and drinks, too. Go to your bread store and ask for hotdog bun donations. Ask Sysco, or another food distributor to donate the hot dogs. People are more to help with donations. Hey, that’s okay because your cash will flow in.

  11. Thanks Dave – drop us a message at support and let us know how your fundraising effort goes. We’d love to hear from you.

  12. We hosted a tie-dye booth at our local festival. It was a blast and brought in some good money for our organization.
