Online fundraising is becoming the number one way in which to raise funds for community projects, school events, charitable causes, churches and individual use. While some online programs offer the opportunity to create, design and promote fundraising packages and projects, some require the use of additional software for management purposes. It may be necessary to use additional tools to track the number of donors as well as the amount funded, percentage funded, time frame or amount that is still needed for the project or event to be successful.
No Need for Additional Software
Also available to those involved in online fundraising projects are separate companies that will help to promote and design campaigns to raise funds for the cause. While this may be wise or even necessary for large projects, organizations or companies, for the majority of the population involved in online gift giving, it is not necessary. In fact, such companies may or may not be non-profit and might end up taking a significant percentage or charging a large amount to provide the services that can be completed quite easily on MicroGiving for free. Simply follow the steps provided by the site to get started and design a campaign for a worthy project. Help may be received through customer service or by using the help function that should easily answer any questions about the process and how it works.

Once again, celebrities will be gathered together to support online charity donation when they appear at the Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night XVII. The event will be held in Arizona this month, aimed at finding a treatment and cure for Parkinson’s disease. Reba McEntire will play emcee for the sixth consecutive year. The night will be comprised of a cocktail hour, silent auction and dinner, plus music from many high level entertainers from around the world, including Matchbox Twenty, Kelly Clarkson, Lee Greenwood and Bret Michaels. Billy Crystal will also make an appearance.
Internet Charity Donation for Parkinson’s
Muhammad Ali was stricken with Parkinson’s disease almost 20 years ago. Since that time, Ali founded the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center to find a treatment and cure for Parkinson’s disease. The Center, located at the Barrow Neurological Institute, has raised nearly $65 million dollars since its inception 16 years ago. Supporters making an online donation will surely help to raise that total by a significant amount this year.
Celebrity Fight Night was designed to recognize the efforts of those that have strived to find a cure for the champ’s disease. This year Celebrity Fight Night plans to honor Halle Berry, LPGA Champion Cristie Kerr, Go Daddy CEO-Founder Bob Parsons and NBA/NFL owner Red McCombs. Supporters are urged to consider making an internet charity donation to support these honorees and their causes, including various online charities.
Celebrity Fight Night will be on Saturday, March 19th and will be held at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. People choosing to make an online charity donation may do so at the event’s website.

Online Charities Bring People Together
The main focus of this online charity is to support research for innovative treatments for cancer, such as the Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project, a program that hopes to develop a blood test that will identify biomarkers. The identification may help to increase the accuracy of early breast cancer detection and treat the cancer at its earliest possible stages, giving more hope for a cure and a higher survival rate. In addition to the biomarker project, the Women’s Cancer Research Fund is also supporting research efforts being conducted at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the UCLA Johnson Comprehensive Cancer Center and the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Supporters are encouraged to make micro loans to help the cause.
Comedian Martin Short will be presented with the 2011 Courage Award as a representative of his wife Nancy Short, who lost her battle with cancer last year. Actress Annette Bening will be presented with the Nat King Cole Award for her contributions to online charities and efforts to help people in need.

It is not surprising to learn that online charity is becoming increasingly popular among non-profit organizations. Typically, non-profit organizations raise money by holding a variety of fundraisers, sending out pledges and follow up letters, creating marketing materials and depending on large grants from various sources, including government help, corporate sponsorship and private contributors. Fundraising can be a difficult and tedious job. It can also take funds away from more worthwhile projects. The expense and amount of labor required is expensive and the return is often not worth the effort. That is why online charities have become so popular in recent years.
Social Media Befriends Online Charity
Using a charity site to give to charity offers many benefits to both the individuals donating and the organizations receiving the funds. Non-profits love online giving for a number of reasons. The faltering economy has hit everyone hard – including the corporate and individual sponsors that so generously support the causes. Smaller donations are also effected, leaving the non-profit at a bigger loss than it is equipped to handle. By using online charities, non-profits have the opportunity to raise much needed funds without all of the labor and marketing costs. People can go to the non-profit’s website or link to the site directly through social media connections like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. The process is very easy and in addition it makes spreading the word even easier. People can share the information and donate online to the online charity of their choice with just the click of a mouse button.
