1. What is MicroGiving?

MicroGiving.com is the eBay of giving, but instead of buyers & sellers there are donors & recipients. It's also a flourishing social network where the members connect, share information, help each other, and keep in touch.

2. How does MicroGiving support its operational costs?
MicroGiving is funded solely by the generous philanthropic support from its founder, John Ferber.

3. Who founded MicroGiving?
Baltimore born Philanthropist John Ferber founded MicroGiving in 2007 as a result of his vision to create a charitable giving resource for the online community. He continues to fund the operations today.

4. What does "Committed" "Donated" & "Requested" mean?

Committed means the total amount of funds donors have deposited into their account. Donated is the total amount donors have donated directly to recipents. Requested is the sum of all the active requests in the MIcroGiving community.

5. Who can use MicroGiving?
Anyone who wishes to help or is in need of help qualifies.

6. Who can receive money?
Anyone who has a verifiable need can become a part of the MicroGiving community and receive donations. Individuals, groups, and even Non-Profit charitable organizations are all welcome to participate.

7. How are the "Featured Profiles" chosen?
Featured Profiles are hand selected by the MicroGiving Team periodically throughout the month to spotlight those individuals and charitable organizations that we feel deserve attention.

8. How does the donation process work?
Donors find recipients by searching or browsing our database that includes all verified recipients. The donors can then make direct donations via PayPal through a link on the recipient's profile. Once a donation is made, the recipient is automatically notified, the details are then recorded in both of the members' transaction history allowing them to keep track of all donations given or received.

9. Is my information safe and secure on the site?
Absolutely! The security of your personal information is our #1 priority. MicroGiving takes online security and member safety very seriously. Each registered member has complete control over access to the information on their profile. MicroGiving offers a number of different privacy levels that our members can use to customize their profiles. Members share only what information they are comfortable letting others view; these options are located in your account settings.
 

MicroGiving also utilizes Verisign, the leading provider of commercial public key encryption technology. Verisign provides a highly secure layer of data encryption that enables secure transactions and maintains the confidentiality of your personal information over the Internet.
