• what is MicroGiving?

    MicroGiving is a fundraising website that lets you raise money for anything and anyone. Are you a nonprofit with a worthy cause, an artist, musician, film maker, developer, designer, inventor, entrepreneur, or someone struggling through an economic hardship such as a loss of housing, a medical emergency or a natural disaster?   • How does it work?

    Sign up, create a fundraising request, invite your friends and family to donate, and use our fundraising tools to promote your cause and track donations.

  • Who can use MicroGiving?

    MicroGiving is for U.S. residents only. Recipients must have a U.S.-based address, Tax Identification number, and a U.S. Photo ID card

  • How do I receive money?

    All donations are processed by credit card and deposited immediately into your MicroGiving account. When your fundraiser expires, you can withdraw your donations as long as your balance is $60.00 or more. Withdrawals are processed bi-weekly, every other Friday. You will be sent a check for the total amount in your account minus the applicable service and credit card fees. Please allow 7-10 business days for postal transit time and be sure to provide us with State, Federal or Educational photo ID and a completed copy of a W9 form that has been signed in ink. Otherwise, there will be delays in processing your check.

  • Why do I need to submit a W9?

    The IRS requires us to submit your W9. You can download one here.

  • How do I submit my W9?

    You can email your W9 to support@microgiving.com or fax to 1-866-870-0518

  • Is there a limit to how much money I can raise?

    No! Your supporters can donate as much as they like.

  • Is there a limit to how much money I can request?

    No! There is no limit. However, we suggest asking for less than you need. If the number is too high, your potential supporters may feel discouraged and give to someone else with a goal that seems more achievable.

  • What does it cost?

    Microgiving is free and easy when creating a fundraiser. A small processing fee of 4% for credit card transactions and a 5% processing fee will be deducted from each donation. The actual amount that you receive will be displayed on the donation bar automatically, you'll never need to worry about being billed or owing us any money.

  • What is a deadline?

    You can schedule your fundraiser to end after 30, 60 or 90 days. The deadline helps to create a sense of urgency. Many recipients find that they raise the most money as their fundraiser nears the deadline date.

  • What happens when my fundraiser ends?

    You are free to withdraw your donations!

  • How do I withdraw my donations?

    Login to your MicroGiving account, click on the Transactions tab and select Withdraw Donations. Please make sure we have a copy of your signed and completed W9 form and your photo ID.

  • What are "Perks?"

    A perk is a reward that you offer to donors to thank them for supporting you. Although optional, this is a great way to set your fundraiser apart from all of the others. Are you a would-be recording artist? Offer donors a signed copy of your next album. Are you an artist? Offer donors a limited edition print or an invitation to your gallery opening. A perk can be as simple as a hand-written thank you note.  Be creative!

  • How do I send perks to my donors?

  • What are Supporting Documents (not required for qualified nonprofits)?

    If you wish, you can provide us with Supporting Documents that verify your identity and need for assistance. These can include such things as bank statements, medical bills, letters or references from local organizations, etc. For your protection, Supporting Documents are kept private and confidential. Your information will be reviewed only by our Administrator. They will NOT be disclosed to the public. Upload your documents inside of your MicroGiving account or fax them to 1-866-870-0518.

  • What is a Verified Badge?

    A Verified Badge indicates that you and your project have been verified though Supporting Documentation. It assures donors that you are a real person with genuine needs.
