whoa I've been MIASo I've been away from this place for a bit. Just been trying to keep busy and trying to figure out the insurance stuff. I have applied for SSI/SSDI in hopes they will accept my application. If I do get SSI/SSDI, then I could get Medicare which will help cover the cochlear implant.  Doctor and audiologist at Rocky Mountain Ear Center both encouraged me to try SSI. I also still have an application for Wyoming Equality Care, my counselor thought I should try. I started filling out that application, but some of the stuff on the forms confuse the heck out of me so I've been meaning to get some help with that.  And SSI has also sent some paperwork for me to fill out. Oh, and my mom, counselor, and I'm sure Dr. Kelsall and audiologist at Rocky Mountain Ear Center are having to fill out some paperwork as well. So will have to get the paperwork taken cared of, then wait some more while the Cheyenne SSA office make their decision.

As for the results of the May 5 appointment at Rocky Mountain Ear Center.  Hearing test showed I was doing better in terms of hearing with my hearing aid (at the last testing, I didn't do as well and the audiologist recommended I saw my local audiologist and have him make adjustments to my hearing aid, which did happen). But I'm still within the candidacy range in terms of how well I hear. I did ok with the sentence portion of the testing, as I was able to guess what was being said. But when it came ot the single words, thats where I did really horrible. Still 0 results with the left ear, which I knew was going to happen.
Then I had the appointment to see Dr. Kelsall. Boy did he really shock me that day, by telling me that there is no ossification or signs of blockage in my left ear. Say what? For so many years, professionals told my parents I definitely had ossification, but they never had the proof. They just made the assumption due to the fact that I had meningitis, and ossification within the ear(s) is common among meningitis victims. Since finding out there's no ossification or blockage, I have been determined to get the ball rolling, hence my trying SSI and Wyoming Equality Care.

I meant to update this journal sooner, but I've gotten sidetracked. Working, traveling, all that jazz.
