I met with a Pulmonary specialist yesterday and while I'm relieved to finally get some kind of diagnosis-I'm scared. I found out that I have Emphysema and more than likely, COPD and Ashtma too. Watching my aunt suffer with this for years now, I'm scared about my future. I'm scared about my childrens future. They did a DNA test on me to see if this is hereditary and if I have the gene that causes it. Please keep me in prayers, prayers would be so appreciated. I'm sad, scared, and mad at myself all at the same time. Thank You.

You are in our thoughts

My mom has COPD, I have chronic bronchitis and asthma, Amy and my son both have asthma and my neighbor has emphysema. Unfortunately I know too much about pulmonary disorders. While it is very scary and rightfully so, there are many good treatments. My neighbor is in his 50's and so is my mom. My neighbor has more wrong than just emphysema but even with though he's on 24/7 oxygen he does ok. My mom is on inhalers and right now she's with her sister in Las Vegas...she is still going strong with proper treatment. Amy and my son both do fine with asthma as long as they both take their preventative meds along with a bronchodilator. I am usually fine with my bronchitis, gets really rough during colds or allergies but otherwise I use inhalers and have only once had a serious problem. Amy is in her 30's, Josh my son just turned 19, I'm in my 40's my mom in her late 50's....really...there is a good life to live in spite of pulmonary disorders but you really have to follow a good therapy plan.
