Biography
Paws Animal Wildlife Sanctuary is a relatively new 501c3 non-profit facility that takes in over 200 wild animals every year that are orphaned or injured. We care for them and return them to the wild. We are currently the only state and federally licensed facility in a 5 county area. Unfortunately, due to the extremely rural nature of these counties, most animals are turned in with no donation towards their expenses. We have never turned away an animal due to this lack of funding and hope never to find ourselves in that position. But in order to continue to take in the ever growing number of wildlife, we need to ask for help outside of our area. Please go to our website and look at our Rehabilitation Pictures page to see a few of the animals that we have taken in. http://www.paws-sc.com
My Purpose
The photo I have chosen to use to represent our work here is of Athens. He is a fawn that came to us with a very typical problem.....someone found him and wanted to keep him as a pet. Unfortunately, fawns do not make good pets and Athens, like so many others, was startled one day and severely injured himself on the fencing. Most of the skin on his forehead was missing when he came in to us. It took 4 full months for it to heal with twice daily antibiotic ointment treatments required for this very scared baby. Luckily, he did heal and is about to be released to go back into the wild after a 4 1/2 month stay with us while he healed. His forehead is about half healed in the photo. Please help us assist more animals in need like Athens.

Description: It costs money to care for every animal that comes to us. Sometimes it’s only a few
dollars and sometimes it costs hundreds of dollars for a single animal. For example, a
single fawn can cost between $100-$150 to raise in food alone. Veterinary care can
quickly run up a lot more in expenses. Unfortunately, in the economic area that we are
in, we rarely get donations along with the animals. On those occasions that we do receive
a donation with the animal, the average amount is $10. We are grateful for any amount,
but obviously, we incur far more expenses than we get in.
My progress: To help supplement our income, we have federal licensed educational animals that go out in
public to do programs for a fee. This serves to both educate people about native wildlife
species as well as provide additional money coming in. We also sell photographs of our
wildlife at local events. We are set up with igive. We are also in the process of
setting up a virtual store to sell logo items for our organization.
This is a long term need assistance request .
My message:Please consider helping us with our wildlife work. Due to the economic area in which we work, we need funding assistance from outside our area. We deeply appreciate any help you can provide.
