Biography

I am a 53 year old woman, married for 36 years, I have previously had back surgery (L-5)and also have a problem with Osteoarthritis (OA - Degenerative Arthritis) in both knees; as well as grade III Chondromalacia, and a frayed meniscus in the right knee, as diagnosed with a recent MRI.

I qualify for services through Vocational Rehabilitation, due to a Category 2 disability, and am on a waiting list until funds are available.

I have not been able to work since 10/29/08 and have filed for disability.

If there is any other information you would like, please let me know I will provide you with it.

I am one of 12 children, I have 7 sisters and 2 brothers, mother had 2 sets of twin girls (I am one of the older twins). She had 5 girls in 3 years.

I was married on Christmas Eve 1972, to my wonderful husband Otis. We are so blessed to share our love for each other. I guess that is why I love the Christmas season so much.

We have two children, Rebecca passed away 4/18/2005 one week before her 33 birthday.

I have 2 grandchildren, Chip is 16, and Allie is 8.

My husband has been ill for several years, and now that he is 62 he is receiving Social Security. I love to bake, my specialty is Carrot Cake List achievements and any future educational plans : I received my GED after being out of school for 25 years, and then received the Altrusa Scholarship (1997) and attended Santa Fe Community College and completed 7 out of 10 courses in Office System Technology.

Unexpected Illness

Description: Need help to obtain a power chair, and to pay off our mortgage.

My progress: I have filed for Disability and have not been able to get any help with our mortgage payments or to purchase a power chair. I have the documentation ready to mail to Micro Giving Foundation.

This is a short term need assistance request for 2 adults

My message:We have always worked very hard and due to illness, medical bills, and other expenses we are behind on our mortgage and if we could get the mortgage paid off we would be able to survive on his Social Security.

Description: I have filed for Social Security Disabiltiy and am in the process of appealing their denial decision. At the present time, we have my husband's Social Security as our income. I have constant pain, difficulty walking, standing, sitting, lifting due to back surgery and osteoarthritis.

OA in the knees, Chondromalacia  and meniscus issues is something I
understand far too well!  I live with early onset bilateral OA in
hips, knees and ankles as well as ligament laxity.  Because of such, I
have been disabled all of my adult life and now at only 40 my walking
days are done.  I just wanted you to know that someone on MicroGiving
understands what you are facing.  Are you a good candidate for TKR? 

I welcome you to MicroGiving!  Make sure you submit an official
request for donations and mail in your documentation so you can find
some help.  When you have a chance come on into the forum and let us
get to know you. You will find the link under the home page tab.  It's
a good idea to start a MicroGiving journal to keep us all updated on
