Biography

I am 19 years old and I am the first in my family to go off to college. It has been really hard on my Mom. She takes care of me and my 2 brothers...she developed cancer 2 years ago, and the medical bills are outrageous. I have always wanted to become a nurse, ever since I helped my mom when she had cancer. It has always been my dream.

My Purpose

I have always had this passion for helping people. My mom developed cancer about 2 years ago. On that day, I discovered my true calling. I wanted to be a nurse. I helped my mom when she got home, because we could not afford at-home care. I loved helping my mom. When I help people, I get a sense of accomplishment and it brings a smile to my face knowing that I made a difference in that person's life. It may be helping an elderly woman out of bed, or giving a little kid a band-aid to put on his cut...but whatever it is, it makes me a better person...and I am thankful for that. : )
I am on this website because, I will be attending college for the first time this fall. I am afraid that I will not have enough money for all my supplies...I have to buy books, food, writing utensils, bedsheets, etc...I really want to make my dream come true of becoming a nurse. If you could help me out, I would forever appreciate it. Thanks for reading!

I know I have inherited alot from my Mom. She knows how to start a conversation. I haven't seen my dad in about 16 years. If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? I would use it to help fund my future...and then give some to charity...and to my mom for helping me these past 19 years of my life. I honestly don't know Hobbies and Talents : I play the guitar....I helped my church during Vacation Bible School, I participated in this club at my high school called Tiger Fever and we mentored freshmen...I was in track and field my junior year. List achievements and any future educational plans : I achieved a HUGE achievement... I am the first to go to college in my family!!!!

Description: I am in need of money for college. I am about $3,000 short. I have always wanted to become a nurse. My mom developed cancer about 2 years ago, and ever since it has been really hard paying for rent, utilities, food, and just living. We have no car. It's just hard getting around nowadays. So, if you find it in your heart to spare anything you can give to help me out, I will forever appreciate your kindness. And someday, when I get back on my own two feet, I will help you out. My progress: So far, I am about $3,000 short of being able to attend college this fall. I am praying that somehow I will be able to come up with the money. I will be the first person to attend college in my family! :)

Do you qualify for any additional help?: Yes, I have applied for loans, scholarships, and grants. I am still short, believe it or not. I have gotten two grants which helps me out a little, but I still had to take out 3 different loans,totaling $10,000.

What local/other agencies have you contacted?: Mohela-a student loan assistant website.

Did you get denial letters? (if so are they attached to your request?): No

What other sources of income do you or your family receive?: All I receive is the money I get from my mom. She is on disability. It's just me and her living together.
