Biography
I am the father of two children (sons) ages 12 and 15. Along with my wife, the four of us live in a 1974 2 bedroom single wide trailer. After my wife and I lost our jobs in 2008 due to the economy, we are unable to get the money to pay to fix the leaking roof, the rotting floors and very drafty windows. Due to age, the insulation underneath the trailer is coming out, causing the floors to be cold during the winter months. Our two children share an 8 foot by 8 foot bedroom. Just big enough for a set of bunk beds. What assistance we are receiving from Social Services, they do not help families with home repairs.

Before my wife and I lost our jobs, we had financed a vehicle, which has now demolished our credit ratings and in return has caused us the burden of not being able to apply for loans.

We are in desperate need of money to either improve the trailer we live in or to purchase a new trailer, which are priced at approximately $35,000 - $40,000.
My Purpose
We wish to either attempt to fix this trailer and all that is wrong with it or to fulfill our biggest dream and get the money (approximately $35,000) to purchase a new single wide trailer that better suit our needs of warmth, safety and health.

The reasons why I haven't been here.

Posted on Fri 11 Sep, 05:24 pm

I just wanted to let everyone know why I haven't been here for the past few weeks. Bad luck was not quite finished with us here on the coast. Besides working night and day, trying to make ends meet. We were forced to go to court by our landlord for late rent payments.
We were evicted by the courts but luckily enough, we were able to work out a deal with our landlord to make extra amounts of payments to attempt to catch up.
On the fourth of July, we lost another close friend. She died from a massive heart attack. In the meantime, we have not yet finished paying off my brother's funeral, which I still owe $800 by the end of September.
Our 14 year old son has been in and out of doctors offices for a knott he has on his neck that they can not figure out what it is.
The car that my in-laws bought for us, has done everything but run right since we got it. I know I have to fork out $600 to fix the turn signal switch, as well as some minor motor work and a tune up!  >>>

Thanks for stopping by. Not sleeping very well lately so, I thought I
would see how everyone was doing on here. Pray everything is well and
I appreciate you stopping to say hi.

Hi Shadesdown and family. Good news. I finally got a housemate. 34yo
guy who works for AT&T. Moving in tomorrow (Sat) It appears that
he will work out okay. It's so nice to have additional money coming
in. He wants a long term lease (1 year) because he will be going to
school and working full time, so wants a stable environment. Has a
2yo son who will spend weekends with him. Hopefully, this will help
me climb out of the hole. It would be nice if I could find another
roommate since I have a 4BR, 3bath home. But, I'm not so sure I want
that many strangers in my home. Could sure use the money though.
Hope things are getter better for you and your loved ones. Went out
today in the pouring rain, and still forgot the peroxide. The ground
cloves in guaze really works though, but I don't want an infection.
Also, I bought a $2 scratch ticket while at the supermarket and won
$55. Things are looking up. lol

Hi Shadsdown. As luck will have it, I got a friend to dive me to the
supermarket at 10:30PM tonight to buy some ground cloves for my
toothache, and of course when I got home, the checkout girl did not
put it in my bag. Now I have to find someone to take me back there
tomorrow. You put th ground cloces in a piece of gauze, run some hot
water over it and lay it agains your tooth, gums, and it will take all
the pain away. I haven't tried it yet, but I told my sister to to it
and she says it was the only thing that worked. She had 3 broken off
teeth down to the gums and had to get oral surgery. Just my luck,
that things always seem to be harder for me. When I get some money
from my new roommate, I am going to have to squeeze out some money for
the dentist. I was up all night with that tooth. I feel like I am
having a "Job" experience. I hope nothing else happens to
me while I am battling all these other problems. It's one thing
afterthe other. I guess I can be thankful that I am not a person with
a lot of illness, and don't take a lot of meds except for HBP. I am
in pretty good health for a woman my age, although my 13 surgeries
hurt when we get bad weather. lol. I believe that things will get
better if I can just hold out. I do need another car, though, because
paying people for rides is hurting my budget a lot. When I get rich
again, I am going to donate to all the wonderful folks I have met on
Microgiving. I do appreciate the encouragement. Regards to your
family, and thanks for thinking of me.

Hi Shadesdown and family. Well, I may have a "housemate".
Been trying for months. Finally had a young man come by and he loved
the house and the accommodations I offer. Hopefully, this extra money
will get me caught up on my mortgage so the bank will stop trying to
take my home. However, everything on my body still hurts. Now have a
toothache. (broke a tooth) and no money for the dentist. I feel like
I am having a "Job" experience. Everything that could
happen has happened to me, but I am holding on. Thanks for the
encouragement, and my best wishes to you and yours.

Hi to each of you. Since I am new to this ite also, I don't know how
to navigate this system, so I hae not read your profile and most of
time, don't know how. Rayhawk has been instructing me. lol. I have
always told folks that we are all in the same boat, and if we don't
row togther, we will sink together. What state do you live in. I
live in Atlanta, GA. Just moved here about 6-1/2 years ago from
Boston where I grew up, but I was born in Georgia. Had to leave the
cold weather, ice and snow, where I fell and broke my A--- too many
times, lol. The bad weather was the reason for some of my 13
surgeries. We are back in a time where there is the haves and the have
nots, and the haves do not want to share. I guess I can' complain
about helping so many people to the point of being in need myself. I'm
a giver, and it is hard for me to turn my back on people in need. I
paid cash for my home when I retired. Then I took out a mortgage when
my son was ill and I had to fly to Massachsetts so many times, and
help him financially until he died. The bank promised to modify my
loan, but sent me directly to forclosure instead. I had to fight to
get off the auction list, and now waiting to go around the Mayberry
bush again. I wonder why the banks forclose on millions of homeowners
and then auction the homes to people looking to get rich off of
others' misfortune, instead of helping those homeowners stay in their
homes. They are a lot more stable than the speculators and investors
who have no stake in a community. Some people are going to get rich
in this economy off the sacrifices and loses of others. It's called
Greed. I hope things will work out for you and your family. All I
can say is take one day at a time, and don't give up. Nothing stays
the same. Sometimes, what goes up must come down (look at the stock
market, lol), and what is down must come up, eventually. Let's hope
we all are able to endure our challenges and win in the end. God
bless.

Hi Shadesdown. How many kids do you have? That's a nice family
picture. Welcome to Microgiving and I hope you have success with
getting assistance. People everywhere are having a rough time in this
economy for one reason or another. I pray for everybody. I never
thought I would ever have to ask for assistance. I used to have
plenty of money. Guess I helped too many people financially, not
knowing this economy would go into a depression. They say its a
recession, but it really is a depression, and it's going to get worse
before it gets better.I keep hearing on television that bread is going
to cost $5.00 a loaf. We had better get some flour and yeast and
store it away, because I think we will have to try making our own
bread. I wish you and your lovely family well.

Hi Shadesdown. I also stop taking pain meds after the first day home
from surger. I just need meds the first day so I can get some sleep.
I tolerate pain quite well, but there are times when I hurt everywhere
from my 13 surgeries that I need something stronger than aspirin to
get some sleep. I would take pain meds if I were really in pain and
unable to sleep. I don't take prescription drugs if I can help it. I
try to go the natural way. I still have a torn rotater cuff in my
left shoulder that I got while in the hospital getting back surgery
two plus years ago. They must have dne it while moving me or
something. I refused to get more surgery here in Georgia. Now I have
arthritis in that shoulder and they would have to cut open my shoulder
to repair it. I guess I will just suffer with it until I die. If I
had some pain meds, I would only take one when everything hurt, so I
could get some rest. Not being able to sleep because of pain affects
one's body worse than taking pain meds on occasion. I have high blood
pressure, and now take just one med a day for that. I passed all the
heart and stress test, and doctor says my HPB is brought on by stress,
so I should not get stressed. Well don't you think that not getting
rest because of pain brings on stress? I have removed my request from
microgiving because there are many more people in worse situation than
I am. I have sacrificing my but of to try to stay afloat. I have
made some progress on my own, and hope to be able to catch up my
mortgage and utilities real soon. I wish I could go back to work, but
I would not be able to sit or stand for long so that leaves me out.
They don't have beds on a job, lol. If things work out for me as I
expect them to, I may be able to contribute again to others in need on
Microgiving. I appreciate your comments. I hope things will improve
for you and your loved ones.

Your very welcome, and thank you for your encouraging comments, they
are so great. God Bless
Dottie Jul 24, 2009 05:25:24
Thanks. Couldn't sleep. It rained today, and all 13 of my surgeries
hurt. My doctor doesn't believe in pain meds so I have to suffer.
When I see her again, she had better give me something or I will
report her. I don't like taking any kind of meds, but when you are in
pain, you should have sometime so you can sleep. I bet if I slapped
her up aside her head, then ask her what she is taking for pain, I
wonder if she will get it lol. Only kidding. She would probably have
me admitted to Psyche. I took tylenol, and feel a little better.
It's true that if you have any surgeries, you will ache when the
temperature or weather changes. I am a walking therometer. Thanks
for saying hello. I'm pretty new to this site, and have only spoken
to a couple of members. Hope you and yours are well.
