Biography
My husband and I started our own glass and mirror company earlier this year. Some months are really good, other months we feel unemployed. Our Yellow Page ad just came out so we are optimistic.

We have two wonderful boys, one is 5, the other is 12. I really want to have a girl in a couple of years, but if I have another boy, it will stop there!
My Purpose
My husband's grandmother has lived in the same old house in Downtowm Fresno for atleast 30 or 40 years. The house is paid off and the taxes on the house are about $500 each year. So, a few weeks ago we took the kids on a mini road trip to go see her and she was upset because she is scared that she is going to lose her house because she hasn't been paying the taxes and now with penalties she owes $2,600 and doesn't know what to do. If we had decent credit, we would help her in a heartbeat, but we just started our own glass business and work has been slow. If she could get an extension, I would pay her taxes with my income tax in February, but it needs to be paid sooner. Apparently she hasn't paid her taxes since 2004. I wish we would have known so we could've helped. I just can't imagine her losing her home. She is on Social Security, lives alone, and doesn't even have a drivers license. I can't express how grateful I would be to anyone who could help us to help her.

Telling the truth

Posted on Mon 30 Nov, 06:49 am

My name is Chrissy and this is my first journal entry...ever...on any site. Hopefully I will get better at this in time.
So, I am new to MicroGiving and I think it is a great site.  I've been browsing the forums, profiles, reading comments, and just getting familiar with how things are set up.  Some profiles come off as begging, others seem so genuine.  Some profiles that I read make me wish that I could sign up as a donor instead of a recipient.
I feel stupid  asking for money when I read about these families that need so much more help than mine.  Especially the people with medical conditions and the peopole who are disabled. The government just leaves them hanging.  It's really screwed up! The disibility and SSI amount they get is a joke. How is ANYONE suppose to live on that...let alone a disabled person!
I have a confession that I need to get off my chest. I signed up hoping that I would get help for my grandma   >>>

Cool! I think so too. It has a nice look. I also use cotton waxed

Hi, Chrissy, ty for your comment, very sweet of you. It is hard to
have porphyria, but it was good to get my diagnosis, so I finally knew
what was wrong with me. Thats cool that you macrame, I like to use
real beads and cording, like cotton or hemp or leather. What do you
use? I've been trying to see if I can help my donations with jewelry,
hopefully I can.
I wish you the best, don't give up, raising donations can be hard
work. Take care, -Penny

The number of referrals is actually obsolete. At one time we had
referral links and as we brought in new members we were credited with
that referral. Over time the links stopped working and other site
upgrades took priority and the referrals kind of stayed on the back
burner :) If you want to help others, but can't financially you can
promote profiles. Under a recipient profile there is a share button,
you can share other members profiles to your social networks giving
them a better chance at having their needs known and helping
MicroGiving as a whole by drawing in more donors. The best help
anyone can give to the community is to help each other meet their
goals. If you can't give a donation, donate your time by sharing
their link with your friends, family and social networks...it all
counts :)

Good luck with your request.

Wow, what a good thing your doing, trying to help her save her home.
Bless her heart. I feel for you guys, were hurting right now too, so
many are. Much luck to you and your family, keep up the good work!
Sincerely, Penny

Hi Chrissy,

No problem about including the comment in which you were replying to,
many people do that :)

People are free to display proof documents in their "my
media" section if they choose, you will see that some of my
Proof/Circumstance documents are open for donor view.

Documents required to review your request however, are not in any way,
shape or form visible to the public. These documents are visible to
MicroGiving Admin only.

MicroGiving takes your privacy, security and safety very seriously.

With the requirement of documentation Donors know that all level 3
members have an honest need and do not have the income or local
resources to fund that need. Because documents are reviewed carefully
Donors also understand that level 3 members have also shown they are
financially responsible and are not asking for donations because they
have poor spending habits.

Such strict policy helps those who truly need the help have some hope
of finding that help.
