Biography

Registered Nurse for over 20 years. Recent years spent working in Hospice.

My Purpose

To remain strong until such time as I am awarded lost wage benefits and or am physically able to return to work. My goal is to in some way provide food, clothing and shelter for myself and my son and to be able to pay my bills to the best of my ability without having to resort to bankruptcy. I would like to be able to stop the harassment from bill collectors calling.

Getting To Know Me
Recent changes in my life : I have been out of work and temporarily totally disabled related to a work injury for nearly 6 months now. I have a teenage son who lives with me. I have had multiple eviction notices, I have had to sell most of my furniture and surrender my prepaid casket for cash value. My son now has to sleep on the floor and I on the couch until it sells. I have obtained legal help to obtain lost wage benefits but to no avail yet as the claim is being reviewed and hearings are constantly delayed. So it is a constant battle to not end up as a homeless person. My family and friends have given all they can and they are 1500 miles away. I cannot physically travel to even go live with them if need be. I am strong and determined and have what it takes to get through life's storms. I am very helpful to those around Me-- be it my friends, my family, or even a neighbor in need. I am a great leader and strong-willed person, and take challenges as a way to better myself...But I also have a deep sense of warmth and nurturing for those I care about. I am well-rounded and tough because I have to be. I am not a "diva" but rather a humble person with admirable character. I am able to turn a little into a lot, I know how to make life enjoyable even if it's just through the little things. I just need a helping hand in this current situation. Description: Temporarily Totally Disabled due to work injury. I have used all my savings, surrendered my prepaid casket for cash value, friends and family have helped all they can. I have sold most of my furniture to pay bills, my son sleeps on the floor and I on the couch until it sells. My injury is to my low back and hip so I really am in desperate need of money to buy a bed and ability to pay at least a months rent and bills. Work Comp Claim is still being decided in the legal system therefore no lost wage benefits.

Description: Because of a work related injury I have been out of work and temporarily totally disabled for seven months now. Because the claim is still being decided in the legal system, I am not receiving any disability payments. Because of not being able to work or receive any assistance I have used up all my savings, cashed in my pre-paid casket, and sold everything that I can.

My progress: (12/5/09 update through a church donation we are nolonger in need of a bed) I have received multiple eviction notices, but thankfully we still have a roof over our heads, but the late fees are adding up and the landlord's patience is running thin. Until my work comp claim can be decided, I am dependent on whatever donations I can receive from either here on microgiving or friends and relatives. My lawyer states a decision could take as long as another 3 months perhaps even longer as the appeal/denial battle goes on.
