About this Project

Hello everyone! My name is Jamillah Green and I am an eleventh grader at New Orleans Charter Science and Math Academy located in New Orleans, Louisiana.  I plan on attending a 4-year university outside of Louisiana to pursue my goal as a computer engineer or a business manager.  My hobbies are drawing, reading, and sewing.  Earlier this year, I received a letter nominating me to go to Europe in June, 2012.  With already working the whole summer without any break,  I was hesitant about going, until my father convinced me that this chance is one that I won't get again. He said,"You are one of the two people in your school that was nominated to go, and that you may never receive this opportunity again".   So, I accepted the letter and went to the meeting.  The People to People delegation called to inform me of my acceptance. I was beyond excited!

Even though I have been working non-stop, most of the money I earned has gone to paying bills so that both my mom and I are not forced to move out of our house.  The other part of the money went to my sister because she had financial problems, and she would be unable to care for my nieces and nephews  most of the time.  However, my dad and I decided that since I really wanted to go, I am going to need the help as much as possible.

The purpose of this project is to raise 7,000 to pay for my tuition to travel with People to People. To me, this trip will take me to places that no one in my family has been before, and it will teach me about cultures that I will never experience again in my life.  At the end of the day, the amount of money donated does not matter, but the thought of helping a child experience life outside of their comfort zone is a life changing experience.  It is the thought of an experience a young child can only happen in his or her lifetime. Through this experience, children can accomplish goals and dreams at a very young age and influence other people who have never experienced stepping outside their comfort zone to do the impossible.  Thank you for your support, and helping to  spread the word about young kids making a difference in everyday life.

Biography
Hello, my name is Jamillah Green, and I am a student of New Orleans Charter Science Academy of New Orleans, Louisiana. I am 16, and my hobbies are drawing, sewing, and learning new things about the world. I plan on becoming a business administrator or a computer technician. I am a student intern, or an "executive student president," at my school, which is the fact that I know so much about my school, which I am dedicated to, I know everyone's name, from freshman to the first graduating seniors of Sci Academy.
My Purpose
*READ THIS!READ THIS!*Hello world, my name is Jamillah Green, and I am raising money to travel next summer to EuropeMy purpose of this is that myself and another student was chosen from our school to travel with People to People Student Ambassador's Program to travel to Europe next summer. On this trip, I will get to experience the art, geography, and life of Europeans, and compare my life to theirs as I stay with a European family for a few days. Although it is very expensive,if I am determined to be on this trip, I have to do everything possible to raise this money. It is kind of hard trying to raise the money though, that I am already experiencing financial difficulties at home, which almost cost for me to not go on the trip. I need at least 7,000 dollars in order for me to be secure, and to cover all of my necessities so that I do not leave out of America barehanded. This trip is very important to me because I believe that if a child is determined to have a set goal, then they should pursue it. Even though everyone is going through a rough time right now, including myself, due to my mom working two jobs to pay off bills;my father, being sick, is giving me the little that he has,and myself, trying to do the best I can to help pay for the trip, but problems at home cause me to pay for my priorities first. If I was to have this money, I will be the first person ever in my family to travel overseas. This trip will teach me maturity, gratitude, and empathy, with the life lessons kids need to help prosper and succeed later on in life. I would really appreciate any sort of help that Microgiving helps me with. If it's from giving me money to supporting me in my link, anything is possible. Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas!
