Recent changes in my life : On Jan.28,2008 I went into the hospital for surgery ( it's still affecting me now ) . On Feb. 4th I came home. Feb. 8th , I was rushed into emergency surgery due to a Severe Staph Infection. They never caught it while I was in the hospital . Between Jan 28th and March 12th , I had 7 surgeries . Six (6) of them were to save my life . I was near death. Thank GOD for Dr."C" ! In total , I had 18 surgeries in 16 months .

My name is Amelia , and Grandmother to 3 Granddaughters , that I have been taking care of since June of 2000. I ultimately adopted them in 2003 .
When I got custody of them , they THANKED ME for FOOD ! Their mother ( not my daughter ) , was not taking care of them at all , leaving them with strangers for days at a time . When I cooked , eveything was “ chicken “ . They never had beef or pork or vegetables ( except raw hot dogs ) . Mom took her “ food stamp money and exchanged them for Drugs and Alcohol . ” She was heavily into drugs and alcohol, and was a “dancer” .
The girls could not do anything in regards to their Education , I helped them learn until they could do it on their own , I had all 3 tested at school . All 3 have Learning Disabilities . So far , with the help of their Guidance Counselors , who helped them above and beyond to make it work for them in school , I am happy to say they are breaking the barrier ! The youngest one is still struggling , but we are all on top of it , knowing the problems she had in elementary school . This is her first year in Middle School . I stress “EDUCATION” very STRONGLY in my house , and am HAPPY to know the girls HAVE GOALS , which includes College ! Shana ( the oldest ) is in her first year at the Vocational and Technical School in Law Enforcement ( 10th Grade ) , Annie ( my middle one ) wants to do the follow her sister , and Zodie hasn’t quite made up her mind . She’s thinking maybe to be a Veterinarian .
To get to the point , I bought a house for the girls and me in July 2006 . It took every penny I had . All they asked for was their own bedrooms and a swimming pool . I was able to do everything except the 3rd bedroom for them . Therefore Annie and Zodie had to share one ( which is the same case here��”we had to move in August 2009 ) . I lost my home due to illness and nearly death . Which brings me to the rest of the information I want to you know.
In August 2006 I had to have Hernia surgery . In December of 2006 , I had to have another ( 2 hernias ) surgery ( Too much working on the house , is what I believe caused them ) . In 2007 , I had what the Surgeon called a “ blowout “ , which was 4-FOUR hernias ,that needed to be taken care of right away . So ,In December 2007 I had the surgery . I was in the hospital , Intensive Care for 5 days . They ( the hospital ) sent me home ( on a Monday ) with a Severe Staph Infection ! ) I tried to get a shower , and was to weak . I had to get out and sit on the commode to dry off . My bed throughout all this time ( 16 months ) was the sofa. . Tuesday night I felt such a “ heat “ in the surgery area , my son said to go to my family Dr. to have it checked . My Mother took me to the Dr. the very next morning in a nitegown and robe . I could not get dressed . Dr. said the inscision was “prestine” , however he sent me for blood cultures and in short , told my friend that was visiting , on Friday , that I needed to get the hospital A.S.A.P; as I had a “ FULL BLOWN STAPH INFECTION “ . She called my son . He rushed me to the hospital , where I met the surgeon that did my surgery. He did a Cat Scan on me , came out and said “ Emergency Surgery NOW “ ( At this point I was dying and had no clue ) . I was rushed up to the O.R. where they wheeled me into the Operating Room .
When I saw the surgeon the following day , he told me when he opened me up , he took OVER a liter of Pus out of me . He also told me he had to go “ out on the floor to find another surgeon , as he’s a Doctor and didn’t know WHAT to do with me .” LUCKILY for me , there was a Plastic Surgeon that came in and agreed to help him with the rest of the surgery . His name is Dr. Francis Collini . He also agreed to take over my case since the original surgeon was at a loss to help me . From there I had 17 more surgeries , that lasted until August of 2008 , a grand total of 18 surgeries in 16 months ! Incredible , isn’t it . Most people I spoke with about it was in awe . Dr. Collini told me I was on my death bed when I went into that surgery ( See inclosed documentation enclosed please ) .
My Mother and Son took care of me throughout these 16 months and I Thank GOD for them . I don’t know HOW they were able to hang in there with me for so long .
Today , I am still struggling so very hard to try and get us on a budget , and out from under the stack of bills I have . I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it . I am to the point that I’m just too tired to keep up the fight . Yes , I’m depressed and I get panic attacks , along with anxiety . Yes , I am terribly “ forgetful “ and yes , I am “ Overwhelmed with having to move and all that goes with that . Geeze , I am not even unpacked from the move in August yet . Especially my bedroom . I have my bed area wide enough to crawl in and out of bed . It’s such a huge struggle every day for me . “To say the least , there is just too much on my plate that I can’t do it any longer .

Taxes ( On Mobile Home ) undertermined��”I understand the previous owner did not pay them , therefore I am “stuck” with the bill . I have been calling them the last 3 days , and have not been able to reach my Tax Collector as of yet . She should have the information I need . (*** Note : The Tax Collector just called and said the guy I bought this home from , did not pay 2009 School Tax : $279.00 + Interest and Penalities . She also informed me that 2010 Taxes are due out In a couple Weeks ( Around the same price ) .
So that now puts me behind by approximately $ 3,969.41 .
I guess I’m here writing you to see if there is any way possible I might be able to get some help . I really don’t know what else to do , or anywhere else to go . If you can’t help , I understand . I know there are worse situations out there than mine , but I would deeply appreciate it if there is a small chance you are able to help me .

If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Pay off all of my bills , set up a College Fund for the girls , build a house to FIT our Family , Take care of my Mother-who is VERY POOR and has nothing, and I do mean Nothing . I would help others in my situation also . I know I would feel so GOOD.
What is the most embarrassing thing youve ever done? Hmmm....Chimed in on a conversation ( that I wasn't following) and said I buy " Rechargeable Batteries " . I was SO EMBARRASSED !
Hobbies and Talents : In Grade School I played some Organ at Church . In elementary school , I played a little bit of Violin and Bass . I also played Field Hockey and was a Girl Scout for a short time. One award I can remember was for my Handwriting.
List achievements and any future educational plans : My Achievements are I scratched my way to have a better life than I did as a kid . I am scratching now to STAY that way . I have broken the cycle of abuse , I think I am doing a good job with the girls and THEIR Future Education plans. I ENJOY my Grandchildren and Family very much . One of them is my sidekick--I cut the cord when he was born. And YES , there IS a BOND with that . I helped raise him the first year of his life. He was just 12 on New years Day and he still stays over at least one if not 2 nights on the weekend :-0 . I bought a house by myself ( I'm a single Grandmother ) , and my sons help me as we tried to fix things around there and make improvements. I never thought I would have my own house ! I faught abd scratched to keep it to no avail . Because I was so sick for such a long time , They Foreclosed on me .
