My Purpose
I joined microgiving to raise money to send a new friend of mine on a homeland visit to Romania. She and her brother were adopted and now lives in the US, but she wishes greatly to return and see her country of origin. While her adoptive parents have taken the two on various other local trips and greatly wish to take them to to Eastern Europe, finding the means to fund such a trip has been difficult. In fact, this student will be transferring following the end of her first semester here due to the cost of the university. She works multiple days during the week to help pay for her education and is very considerate of her current financial status; she understands that she must transfer because it is a cost-efficient decision for her family. I feel the two of them, along with all adopted children, deserve to visit their homeland before they reach an age where the magic of returning may have less of an effect. If the limited space offered by ISV fills up, I will be using the donations to help offset the costs of a trip for my friend and her brother to make on their own. I appreciate any assistance donors can offer, and promise to donate excess funds to other members in need.

Hello!

Posted on Fri 30 Oct, 05:00 pm

My name is Jason Cane and I am a student at the University of South Carolina.  I recently became friends with a student who, along with her brother, had been adopted and has not had the opportunity to return to her home country of Romania. I feel both she and her brother, along with all adopted children, deserve to visit their homeland before they reach an age where the magic of returning may have less o  >>>

Just a message for anyone who sees this

Unfortunately I am unable to provide the proper documents for
verification in regards to the "need" of my friend's family.
This is fine, though, as there are many members in much more dire
need of aid. I have also recently received an email saying that
spaces for the International Volunteer trip are filling up, and as a
result I will not be able to make the spot reservation payment for her
in time. This is fine as well; I am going to contact travel agencies
and use donations to buy credit so that the donors can be assured
their donations are being used for the cause I have stated. This wild
little goal of mine is supposed to be a surprise for her before she
moves back home to attend another college; this is why I have been
reluctant to fund-raise on campus. If any members wish to donate
outside of microgiving please contact me using the information below.
I will disperse excess funds to others in need via microgiving and
will email a form of confirmation/proof of my purchase at the travel
agency to those who donate. When my friend sends pictures of her trip
to me, I will post them here to share the feeling of gratification
with members. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you

Hello Jason. Basic documentation must answer the "WH"
questions.

Why does this family need help? This will be difficult as you are not
raising for a "need" but for an opportunity to visit another
country. I'm not sure how to advise you because generally only needs
are acceptable.

What does this family need help with? You will have to show exactly
what the cost will be.

When does this family need to go? You will have to show a deadline if
there is one.

Where are you seeking help? Please reveal all places local and online
where you are requesting aid for this need.

How has this family been supporting their needs (income and expenses)

And a copy of your ID. Yes you many photocopy your ID. Do not send
your plastic :)

All other documentation should be original. If you wish to have the
documents returned to you you must also include photocopies and a self
addressed stamped envelope.

Hello and Welcome I wish you the best of luck! If you have not already
done so please remember to mail in supporting documentation so you
will be verified and able to withdraw any donations you receive.

Have you been to the forum yet?

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

if every member donates even between $1 and $5, I will easily reach my
goal and will be able to happily donate excess funds to other members
