Biography
I thought I would update this. My son is now 1o years old. We went through 4 surgeries in SaltLake City last year and his legs seem to be getting better. We have to drive back down in June so that they can check them to make sure they are growing straight. My daughter turns "sweet 16" I am still not back to work, with my illness and Dakotas appointments I am unable to work any hours. Dakota is now 5 ft 7 and 347 pounds. We are now traveling to Seattle Childrens Hospital to see Endocrinologist and Geneticist to see if they could solve the problem of his growth.
My Purpose
The purpose of finding this website is to help my family to better itself and try to find help for my son. He is diagnosed as being disiabled and receives SSI but that does not cover the expenses that we have occured in the past. The most important thing for me is to find out why my son has a "growing" issue, and to find some doctors that may be able to run some tests and give us some hope that maybe someday he may be happy, healthy and able to run around like most 10 year olds. I made the mistake of being on the MauryPovich show in 2005, I thought that I would be able to be "hooked" up with a doctor that would help us. The show did not get any results. I just want the chance to figure out why with the diet and excercise Dakota still has a hard time to lose weight. Let alone maintain his weight. If there is a doctor out there that would look at his records and help us with his weight, then I am sure that all his other problems ( he has to wear a cpap at night, possible future heart problems, lung problems, maybe diabetes?) will go away because he wont be in so much medical danger. With the help that seeing a specialist would provide, my health would be much better, my stress levels would lower and there would be less kaous in out household. May god help us and bless anyone that can help.

Recent changes in my life :   The health of my son has been an ongoing crisis since he was born 10 years ago. We just had surgery on both his legs this summer. My daughters father decided that he didnt want to be responsible for her anymore and doesnt spend time with her. My mother has been in and out of the hospital all 2010 and almost passed away, my close cousin passed away Oct 2010.

I want to thank all you that have helped with our cause. I am very blessed to have found all of you at Microgiving. I have felt a huge weight lifted from my shoulders due to the help of strangers.  To put all your problems out in the open has not been an easy thing for me and I wasnt sure that I would be comfertable doing so. I feel that the love of strangers and those that have given out of the kindness of their heart. I will definatly "pay it forward", and help those in need whenever it possible. Thank you for your help and the care that you give to others and fullfill needs.
The money that I received will help us out tremendously with our trip and maintenence to make sure that there will be no problems on our trip. The generousity of all you "angels" gives me hope that life will indeed move forward for my family and that there are people that love one another with the sole purpose of being a good human being.

I understand how you feel.  We are driving a truck that costs us $75 a
week just for my Partner to go back and forth to work every day.  My
youngest son has a doctors appointment coming up in the big city which
is two hours away and the round trip eats a full tank of gas.  This
means I have to come up with an extra $50 on top of the regular $75
for gas and we are running on two bald tires...got no choice though
because it's a required evaulation for his medicaid renewal.  I
totally understand your frustration and worry.  I'm just sorry that
those who are in a better financial situation are not seeing your
plea.  I do hope you find the funds you need somehow and soon.  I am a
mom to two disabled sons and I know how hard this is for you.  Special
needs kids have LOTS of doctors appointments and most of the visits
are in major hospitals in the big cities usually a few hours from
home.

I am sorry to hear your faith in mankind is lost. There are many good,
giving people in the world but in order for them to find you, you have
to advertise where all the people are...FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter,
Yahoo Groups, Google Groups etc  If you are not spreading your link
far and wide people just don't know you need help.

Susan, are you advertising your fundraiser on social networks such as
Facebook, MySpace and Twitter?  Also it helps to visit the forum and
ask some of the members if they would be willing to advertise for you
on their social networks. Our recipient members really can't help with
funds but many are more than willing to help you advertise your
fundraiser in hopes of helping you find some who can chip in a little.

We havnt received any help from anyone and that worries me, Ive tried
to put this in gods hands, but that hasnt helped me worry any less. I
dont have the money to go, and everyone I have asked for help has
turned us down. I am begining to lose my faith. I know that it is a
bad thing to say. But its hard when I am going through so much and
everything seems to be against me. Ive been through alot of hard
things this week, and the last one was the grant that i asked for
turning me down for funding for this trip. So now i amhopeless. I am
worried that I will not find the help I need. My son is my life and we
need to make these appointments. My car just had to have new brakes
and tires so we already are in the whole for that. Now I cant even
imagine how we will make this trip. Please hear my cries for help. Im
praying that someone will hear me. Before I lose all my faith. Help!

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers... We made it to Seattle and
for now things are holding. Will be looking for help again May 31rst,
then we will be going back to Seattle. And the end of June to SaltLake
City Utah to Childrens hospital this will be a great burden and we
will be looking for help then. Thank some of you for beleiving in us.
