About this Project

My mom suffered a major stroke on 7-25-2009 at the age of 65.  This left her paralized on her left side and now has short term memory loss.  Mom was in a coma for 4 weeks after the stroke.  Mom finally got to leave the hospital on 11-18-2009.  Since she has come home she is now able to feed herself, comb her hair, brush her teeth and sign her name. My mom has always been very independent and now she has to have someone with her 24hrs a day.  That would be me.   Although she is unable to stand or walk and has a hard time with her memory she can speak and keeps asking to get out of the house.  I have been looking for a used wheelchair van so we can get out of the house.  I have seen a few on Craig's List for sale that are kinda old but would do the job.  I have some money put away for a van but not enough.   Mom and I used to go shopping or just driving around.  Now the only time we leave the house is to see the Dr. once every 3 months.  I think it would raise my mom's spirits if we could just up and go when we wanted to.  Anything you could do to help us out would be greatly appreciated.
