Biography

We are a family of 4 living in a rural town in South Carolina. Me and our two sons are disabled. My life partner is a Navy Veteran working at our local gas station.

We are very active in local charity with our local Motorcycle Rights Organization called Dixie Thunder of Aiken County. I am also the Internet Admin at Dixie Thunder. I built and I run their website, Egroups, Forums, Calendar, Photo Galleries and Social Networks.

We run a fund raising website to help others find help for their injured or disabled pets. I built and run Handipets Website and all Handipets Social Network Profiles.

Locally Our focus is on special needs feral youth and seniors (untamed cats) and hard stray cats (cats often abandoned who have turned feral)with old injuries that have long healed but have prevented them from hunting, scavenging and escaping dangers in their natural setting. We provide an outdoor confined natural sanctuary with unrestricted access to a few indoor areas if they choose. We provide natural grain/gluten free foods and raw meats as well as natural holistic supplements.

Annually the Dixie Thunder Organization above holds a benefit event with proceeds going to our private sanctuary. Through their help we are usually able to restock our supplies and handle some kennel repairs or upkeep.

Becky Down Rider Event 08 first time back to charity work since my fall. My scooter is in the background so that I can get around the large fields at these events.

Becky and 3 legged cat getting ready for the 2007 crippled critter benefit. This was the last benefit on my own two feet. Shortly after this benefit I had fallen off a ladder while building the kennel the Crippled Critter fundraiser was raising funds for. This fall aggravated my existing disability to the point of no return.

This is me at our 2008 local Motorcycle Awareness event. We hold these events to bring awareness to motorcyclists on the road so that automobile drivers remember to watch for them and help prevent accidents. The guys just started showing up. Almost time to open the TeeShirt booth

Me (Becky), My mom and Amy at my mothers birthday party Feb 2009. I am in a new wheelchair now because my standard chair was too heavy and damaging my shoulder. My new one only weighs 25 pounds and has smaller front casters to reduce shoulder strain.

April 6th was my sons birthday, we took him out to a local diner for his special day.

I'm going to try to go up this hiking trail...there is a video on my webpage of me coming down..LOL...made it a good way up till Amy said it was not safe for me to try any further. 2009

First try on my new ramp!! An old deck was donated by a local person, cut up and pieced together into this fine ramp by my sons, Amy, Rick and friends at Dixie Thunder in 2009. There is a video on my website of the first ramp ride.

If I get another flat tire I’m buying a horse! We are a first name basis with both local tire and wrecker guys. We know how much fix a flat and green slime is at every store for a 20 mile radius and we know what stations have air hoses that don’t work and which ones we can get free air from. Oh…uh..thanks mom for once AGAIN coming to our rescue while we are down with ANOTHER flat tire. >>>

Help to get a mobility scooter

Description: I wanted a mobility scooter so I can do things outside of my home like shop at goodwill, salvation army, yard sales. Visit the botanical gardens, enjoy events with my local organization or just go for a walk with my partner....I can't get one on Medicaid because you must need one INSIDE your home. It will not be authorized if you need it only for doing things outside of your home. I don't need one inside my home. I probably won't hopefully for a good long time either, but this restriction means I am trapped inside my home! I won't argue with the restriction. It's there to make sure those who cannot stand or walk without the use of a wheel chair will always have the funds available. They deserve this and I wont try to say the restriction is unfair. What I am looking for is anyone who can help me get a 4 wheel scooter as I can't even afford to buy one second hand. I still have two children (one is a disabled adult, one is 17) to care for. I am entered in some contests with ..

Oh Vicki, I'm sorry to hear you are sick again :(  Luckily I am
recovered from my T6 spinal flare just have to stay off from my
walker..My T6 flared up when my wheelchair broke down and I had to use
my walker more often.  I managed to get a temporary fix for my caster
and fork so I can use my chair again and I healed up pretty good after
that.  Because we had so much trouble after our Kennel collapsed and
were unable to get all the materials needed to rebuild we stopped
accepting any newcomers.  We are looking for rural land where I won't
have to have a full feline kennel and the cats who are mostly feral
rehabs can roam the property.  Dogs of course will always be kenneled
but they are MUCH easier to contain than cats.  My dogs are mostly
seniors, two are blind...they don't go very far.  Things will be okay
in the end.  We will find just the right property and it will be one
right within our down payment and monthly mortgage budget...It will
happen.

Things are about the same here. I've been really sick again, but
there's no time for that! Someone dumped 4 more dogs on us and I am
stressed to the max!

within 6 months so we are looking for a suitable and affordable place
to move our family and Crippled Critter Kennel.  Lots of big things
