I'm a person who tries to be positive, but that is becoming more difficult by the day. I am struggling to work part time without any treatment for my injuries from the accident, along with my other medical conditions. The accident was 3 yrs ago this coming June, and work comp cut me off in December 2006 as far as pay. They had been covering my medications until about 3 months ago, when the refused to continue to fill my prescriptions. My doctor is discharging me because he says my case is too labor intensive for him, too much paperwork. He hadn't been paid in months for treating me, so I guess I can't blame him, but I do wonder about the Hippocratic Oath he took.
I am not the only injured worker who has been thrown away by the system. Social Security Disability also "throws away" the disabled, and I've been denied twice by them so far. In the meantime, I am finding it harder and harder to work my part-time job without medications and treatment, which scares me, because there is no recourse, no safety net. My savings are long gone, having been spent on living expenses over the past almost 3 yrs. I love my country, but I am very sad when I think about how many of us are suffering and struggling, and being left behind and left out of existing services. |
