Biography
Taking one day at a time, and making the best out of each of them! I look forward to making many friends here at Microgiving! My husband is 43 years old and suffers from Colon Cancer, Osteo Arthritis, Degenergive Disk Disease, Fibromyalga, COPD and Asthma. I have Systemic Lupus and Discoid Lupus, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Carpal Tunnel, Arthritis.. and the list goes on. It's my wish that someday we will be able to to pay it forward and help others. I joined Microgiving, hoping that someone out there could help my family, and that others would want to become friends. I'm a good listener, loyal friend and hopefully someone can confide in. My family is my rock and without them, I would be nothing. I used to be a cook, until Lupus entered my life. I enjoy playing cards and my online friends. My husband means the world to me, I truly beleive that we were meant to be married and to always be there for one another. Please feel free to add me as a friend.
My Purpose
I am a 36 year old mother of two great kids who are 14 and 17. My husband, Tom and I have been married for 18 years. We live in a small Northwest Ohio town. We usually do ok for ourselves, but with gas prices as high as they are, and other hardships that have come up, we are having a really hard time right now. Tom does get SS, but I do not at this time. We can not afford our meds, gas and groceries while trying to maintain our utilities and house payments. I look forward to making new friends and sharing our lives with you.
Our goal is to work hard at getting back on our feet, this includes obtaining insurance for our family and if nessacary, file for disibility on my behalf. I so badly wanted to go back to work, but my health is beginning to tell me that this may not be possible. I love working as a cook, it's a pure passion of mine. It's been a long while since I have had the chance to do so because of the Lupus and other medical issues.
Our goals include becoming more stable finanically and enjoying the time we have together. To share our expierence with others and help when we can, even if it's only a bit at a time.
Please read my blogs and bio to learn more about me and my wonderful family.

Just a short update: Tom was dx'd with copd/asthma and is now going to Pulmonary Rehab, 3 days a week. Our two teens, ages 17 and 14 were recently dx'd with Severe Hypertension. Today we had a follow up with the Nepherologist. It wasn't great news, but it isn't the worst news possible. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers. It's been a rough few months for all of us. >>>
Description: On June 12th of this year my husband Tom had a series of test and biopies done at the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation. These tests and procedures were for cancer of his K pouch,
stomach and small bowel. The total cost of these were almost 6000.00, and right now the
CCF is asking that we pay 212.00 until the Medicare decides what it will pay. I would
also like to add the following to our request:
In September of 2007 our children, ages 16 and 12 had to have procedures done, to test for
the same type of cancer that Tom (Their dad) has. I had insurance at the time, but the
Toledo Hospital which is run by Promedica did not consider us in their network. Therefore
my insurance only paid a small fraction of what the charges were. Since that time, I lost
our family plan insurance and must pay for all of my meds out of pocket,(I have Lupus)
leaving us with little or nothing after the house-payment and utilities. I have tried to
make payment arrangements with the Hospital and Anthologist, but missed one payment and
now they both want payment in full. So my request is for $1906.00 This amount will pay the
Anthologist off in full. I'll try to talk to the hospital again and see if they will
consider letting me continue to make payments. I'm really trying hard to earn extra money
for our family, by selling Avon and selling whatever I can find here at home. Thank you
very much for your time..
My progress: We are making monthly payments to each of of the hospitals/clinics/ doctors that we owe.
Although it isn't always what they want. I continue to sell Avon to help pay these
payments, along with garage sales and other things. I have also held auctions to help pay
for our medical bills. Having Lupus and no insurance is very stressful. Please see all
of our supporting documents and verifaction articles.
This is a short term need assistance request for a family of 2 adults & 2 children
My message:Lupus and Cancer Patients trying hard to avoid collection. Looking forward to the day when I can help in a better way.
Supporting Documentation: Sherri has the following documentation
Do you qualify for any additional help?: No we do not at this time. Although the children, ages 16 and 13 will receive medical insurance through the state because Tom is disabled.
What local/other agencies have you contacted?: We have filed for charitable help through the hospitals/clinics and doctors. 2 of the bills were lowered, and you can see that in the supporting documents. I've also added more supporting documents.
Did you get denial letters? (if so are they attached to your request?): No
What other sources of income do you or your family receive?: Tom recieves SS, because of the colon cancer, Familia Polyposis, Degenertive Disk and Joint Disease, Fibromyalga and OsteoArthritis.
I also sell Avon to try to make extra money.

Help with Medications and Gas Money or (gas card)for 4 round trip doctor
appointments that are 70 miles each way.
Description: Thank you for taking the time to read my request. Please read my story to find out more about my family and I. My request is for help with medicines and gas money or a gas card to help us get to the doctor appointments we have coming up.
If you have any questions at all, please just let me know!!! This is my first request, and I sincerely hope that I do not have to ask again. I am usually the first person who helps, but January proved to be a very hard month for us.
We just can't afford to get my meds and have gas money, and still have money for grocery's, utilities and the house payment. I am updating this request to include a new medicine I was put on Jan 31st. The new medication is almost 70.00.
Thank you again!
