Biography
Hi all! My name is Tania Osborn, and I am a single mother of a beautiful 16 month old baby boy! I have recently come into some bad luck, leaving me alone to raise my son while trying to finish school. I have been going to school for almost years and since I became pregnant I decided to change my major to be able to provide for me and my son. Since moving closer to family after having my son, I enrolled in our local community college. This being only a two year school it only allows aid for so many credit hours. This change has left me with too many credit hours to receive Financial Aid. With not getting federal aid, I cannot qualify for any other aid that the college offers for someone in my position. I am stuck! I am trying to survive off of only $300 a month, and I do not have a family that can afford to help me in any way so I am completely on my own. Also if I cannot start school in the fall then I will have to start paying on my previous student loans, and without a suitable job or education I won't be able to make my payments! All I want is to finish school and make something of myself, my family proud, and be able to help others in return! Thanks for your time and consideration!

School Progress!

Posted on Thu 30 Apr, 06:17 am

School Progress! So far not good! I have not heard back from ANY of the scholarships that I have applied for =S.  To add to that I got a list of items I need before August, some are before May 31st and it all adds up to over $700.00!!! Even if I had gotten aid, it wouldn't have covered these fees and expenses! How do they expect people to come up with this  money?!

Also I went in to look at the scrubs we have to get, which by the way I had already purchased four sets only to find out that they decided after four years of the same uniform to change it this year, and was envious of this mom sitting in there ordering the new uniform with her daughter.  I know my day will come, it's just hard to see the sunlight through all the clouds right now =(

Hopefully I'll have a more positive post soon!  >>>

Hello. I just want to give you some words of encouragement. You can
get through school, you will become a nurse! I did it and so can you.
Here's my story...
I was raised in a small coal mining town in West Virginia (sounds like
a country song about to happen doesn't it?), quit school in the 8th
grade, married at 15, had 4 babies before my 20th birthday. I was
married 21 years to an abusive man. So I know a little about domestic
violence. One of my earliest memories is of someone asking me what I
wanted to be when I grew up, I was about 4 years old. I responded by
saying "I want to be a nurse and have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls.
Well, I did manage to accomplish these goals, though not exactly in
that order. Having 4 babies and a very demanding and abusive spouse,
made getting an education not an easy task. I started by getting my
GED when I was 18 years old. I had just given birth to my third child
when I took the exam. I then started taking one class per semester
from the community college. They would hold night classes at the high
school about 6 miles from my house. When 3 of my children were in
school and my youngest was 3 years old, I applied for and was accepted
into nursing school. It was very hard to get through school and attend
to my children and their father. But I succeeded. I have had a very
good career as a registered nurse, working in a trauma intensive care
unit at a major teaching hospital and level one trauma center, then as
a nursing unit supervisor in a cardiovascular intensive care unit at a
top 100 heart hospital, then as the house supervisor in the same
hospital. I am currently working as a volunteer Faith Community Nurse
to educate the public about domestic violence, and to teach women that
they too can move from being victims to being victorious! I have been
married 12 years to a wonderful, kind and gentle man who encourages me
to be me and has shown me what love really looks like.

You make your inital request then snail mail the documents to
microgiving. It takes some time to get everything verififed. If you
find you can't post in the forums try signing out and sign back in
that should clear that up. If you need a hand let me know. :)

What seems to give you the impression your request is not going
through? Do you get an error message?

Hi Tania! I just want to welcome you! I'm really glad you joined our
community. There's a lot of really nice people on this site.

I have some suggestions for you that will help you find support and
raise donations for medical school. The best way to be successful
around here is is to be active on the site:

1) Introduce yourself to other people on their profile
2) Talk to other members in MicroGiving Forum, and
3) Comment on MicroGiving's Blog!

Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. Stop by my page and
drop me a line =)

Best of luck!
