About this Project

We rescue animals but now we need to be rescued too!

I am updating this request Feb. 12, 2012 due to urgent need of medical care. I have tried to deal with my symptoms but I can no longer deny them and no longer hide them.

I have been seriously ill for more than 2 years and because I have no insurance, I can't get a doctor to see me. I have seizures and my stomach is very swollen and painful. I have blood in my urine and bowels. I cannot eat any solid food and I am rapidly losing weight. I have been turned away from the local emergency room and also the health department. They both tell me I need to see a regular doctor. Social Security has turned me down because I have no doctor treating me.

I am terrified that this is something very serious! The longer it goes on, the worse it gets. I rarely leave my home for fear of another seizure and because of the intense pain I am in. Many days I cannot even get out of bed.

My husband is unemployed and we live from day to day. Our only income is from odd jobs my husband picks up and we do get food stamps.

Please help me get to a doctor so I can be diagnosed and hopefully treated. I am so afraid I won't see a doctor and receive some help before it's too late!

I am 53 years old and I have worked almost my entire adult life. I have always tried to help others, including the stray animals I care for, but now I need help and I have nowhere else to turn. My only hope is to find a Hero!

We provide a home for several elderly dogs who will be at risk if the power and water is shut off. The dogs who live here now are very elderly or somehow impaired in ways that make them unadoptable. 2 of the old dogs, Jackie and Jasmine, are over 14 years old and Jasmine is blind. Even though they are old, these dogs are healthy and very much a part of the family. We don't believe in putting an animal "to sleep" just because they are old. They deserve to live out their natural lives, safe and comfortable, just like people do!

If anything happens to me, I'm afraid Ron won't be able to continue to care for these animals alone.

Oh Vicki, I'm sorry to hear you are sick again :( Luckily I am
recovered from my T6 spinal flare just have to stay off from my
walker..My T6 flared up when my wheelchair broke down and I had to
use
my walker more often. I managed to get a temporary fix for my caster
and fork so I can use my chair again and I healed up pretty good
after
that. Because we had so much trouble after our Kennel collapsed and
were unable to get all the materials needed to rebuild we stopped
accepting any newcomers. We are looking for rural land where I won't
have to have a full feline kennel and the cats who are mostly feral
rehabs can roam the property. Dogs of course will always be kenneled
but they are MUCH easier to contain than cats. My dogs are mostly
seniors, two are blind...they don't go very far. Things will be okay
in the end. We will find just the right property and it will be one
right within our down payment and monthly mortgage budget...It will
happen.

Hi Vicki. I'm in the process of property hunting. I have to move
within 6 months so we are looking for a suitable and affordable place
to move our family and Crippled Critter Kennel. Lots of big things
going on in my life, how are you doing?
Sondra Sep 23, 2011 17:49:27
Vicki,
Thank you for being such a caring/loving person. You have to be to
rescue a 120 lb. puppy! I know she's happy to have such a wonderful
life with you. We have 8 feral cats that we care for daily. Four
have become tame and the other four still have their wild streaks, but
are fed just the same. Sorry I didn't answer this sooner...just
learned how.
Many Blessings to you,
Sondra

Sondra Aug 29, 2011 23:14:11
thank you Vicki. I love your puppy. So cute! Does he/she need a
home?
The Minnesota Montgomerys Aug 29, 2011 20:36:44
Thank you so much Vicki. I would love the extra promoting of my
request. We really hope to get donations before the 31st of the
month. Doing a little better today but my INR is too high so they're
having to adjust for 3 days and have me tested again. I had one
wonderful donation so far. I'm so grateful!
The Minnesota Montgomerys Aug 24, 2011 05:01:23
Thanks so much Vicki. Am in quite a bit of pain. It feels like a
severely pulled calf muscle. I'm going to my Dr. tomorrow and an
education about blood thinners the next day. Hopefully starting
tomorrow night I won't need to do the injections. They've really
bruised up my stomach. I received a generous donation of $100.00
which will help with the prescriptions. Have a great evening. Terri

Friday Terri found out she has a Deep Vein Thrombosis in her right
leg. It's scary that her grandma died of a pulmonary embolism. I
want to be around to watch Danny grow up. It is more important than
ever to get this funded.
